WWW Wednesday (June 12)

WWW Wednesday June 12Last week I started my WWW post with “I’m reading as fast as I can”, which I am. But, I got thinking, “What’s the hurry?” I should be savoring every last word. You don’t rush through the meal at a 5-star restaurant, right?

W…W…W…Wednesdays is a weekly reading prompt hosted by MizB at Should be Reading.

TO PLAY ALONG, JUST ANSWER THE FOLLOWING THREE (3) QUESTIONS:

  1. What are you currently reading?
  2. What did you recently finish reading?
  3. What do you think you’ll read next?

As you could guess from the intro,  I am still reading The Dark Tower: The Dark Tower VII by Stephen King. Some will object to my comparing his books to a fine dining experience. But, I will defend my position with an old saying…”One man’s trash is another man’s treasure.” I’ve said before that I don’t need elegant writing and flowery text to enjoy a book. I need to have characters I like/hate (depending on the character) and a good tale. I think Sai King does an excellent job with both. I have yet to be disappointed with one of his books. I admit that I have favorites and not-so-favorites. But, overall, I like them all.

I have roughly 250 pages left in DT VII. So, I hope to have it finished in the next few days.

I recently purchased two more books by Stephen King — Joyland & Cycle of the Werewolf. It is highly probable that I will read Cycle of the Werewolf first, as it is shorter and looks to be a quick read. Then I’ll dig into Joyland. This will get two more books crossed off the Catch Up Reading Challenge list and leave just a couple of books left to finish that goal.

Until next week…

  1. Never apologize for your reading pace! I find that my pace really depends on the book and what else is going on in my life. Some books I devour, others I savor, and some I just kind of tolerate until they are done. Your dining analogy is a good one. I need to read the Dark Tower series one of these days.
